…back pain

Is it because I don’t exercise enough? Is it because I have bad posture? Is it because there is some orthopedic issue that I am unaware of? Is it because my spare tire has become too big? Is it because I am hunched over a computer for too long?
Whatever the reason, I have chronic back pain, and it is no fun.
Or maybe I should just man up, take some pills, and stop complaining. Because when I get right down to it on a scale of severity back pain really isn’t that bad. Sure, it drones persitently. Yes, it keeps me from being comfortable at night. Absolutely it causes all sorts of other problems like headaches and moodiness. But whose fault is that, really? I’m sure there is something to be done about it.
I think back pain exists to separate the doers from the complainers. If you are the type that is always moaning about how much their back hurts then do something about it. Stretch, exercise, lose some weight! Surely it can’t be that hard to do.
See, you don’t want to be that guy. You know what he looks like? A whiner. I can just hear his pitiful voice now. “Ooh, I have to sit at this desk all day in the air conditioning and work so hard as I sit at my computer with my ergonomic mouse and 19 inch monitor and it just KILLS my back! Isn’t there anything I can do?” First off, is your job really that hard? That chair looks mighty comfortable, and I’m sure the weather is nice in your cubicle, and how hard can typing and phone jockeying really be? If a little back ache is the price you have to pay for such comforts then consider yourself lucky. You could be, I don’t know, a construction worker, or a painter. Carry around 5 gallon paint buckets and roll walls all day in a closed off fume laden house and then talk to me about pain.
Rated two stars for chronic, twinge inducing pain. Would have been rated a flat one star were it not for that fellow with the lightning bolts coming out of his back. Now that’s pain!

“Or maybe I should just man up, take some pills, and stop complaining.”
A prime example of manning DOWN, I’d say. You ought to do a review on America’s obsession with taking pills for any minute problem that occurs in their life.
“You know what he looks like? A whiner.”
I totally lol’d at this.
